Dear Citizens of Delhi, 2008 has been a challenging year, in more ways than one, for the Delhi Police. Terrorism raised its ugly head, once again, on 13 September, 2008 and in a series of bomb blasts 26 persons were killed and 133 injured. The ‘Eyes and Ears” scheme helped contain, to some extent, the damage caused. Thereafter, within a week, one of our most decorated and valiant police officers, Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, made the supreme sacrifice while leading a Special Cell Team in a mission in Batla House. He and other officers of the Special Cell, neutralized two militants, Atif Ameen and Sajid and arrested another militant, Saif. This was quickly followed by the arrest of Zeeshan Ahmed by the Special Cell and Zia-ur-Rehman, Saqib Nisar and Shakeel by the South District police.Read more...
